Peacock, when it is raining

How well you dance

But to see you dancing when it’s not raining

Also do give us a chance.

When the rain starts pouring

Your wings spread out and

You start to dance happily

And look the prettiest in the land.

Oh, look at your shining, colourful wings

Your beak, eyes and your crown

Your feathers are so colourful

You never seem to frown.

Your graceful dance, your dazzling eyes

Your perch on the wall so high

I guess it never matters to anyone

Whether you do or don’t fly.

Because of your characteristics

For it, take my word

There’s no doubt about it

You’re India’s national bird.

You’re the Queen of the Gardens

And the fields of grass

There’s no bird like you

From the Sun to Mars.
